Setting the Right Fitness Goal for Success
Your training is part of your personal development - not a separate physical activity
By: Susan Megge
It's not unusual for many women to fall short of having the body they so desire. This is because most of us tend
to set inappropriate goals, which leads to an outcome we simply don't want – failure. If you spend some time working on setting your goals you will greatly increase your odds of success and the reward will be a healthy, fit and beautiful new you.
A carefully chosen plan - one that is realistic - will motivate you to stay on your course to fitness and will engage your mind, which will likely keep you motivated.
Your fitness training should be viewed as part of your personal development, maintenance and who you are - not as a separate physical activity. I personally view my workouts as part of my everyday activity - much like going to work or the grocery store; it's just part of who I am and what I do.
The first step to reaching your goals is by taking your fitness routine one day at a time. Don't start out looking at the big picture just yet. Instead, decide where you want to be in 30 days. Sure, we all want to picture ourselves in a bikini, looking fit, toned and sexy, but in the short term this goal is probably not realistic. Each small step is a step in the right direction, and one that will lead you to reaching your goal. Perhaps for the first month decide that you will attend your gym and work out five days a week, with the ultimate goal of losing so many inches.
Once you see the results of your first 30 days at the gym your enthusiasm will take off and you'll be on your way, ready to take on the next 30 days. You'll know at that point that you can challenge yourself even further.
